After serving two-thirds of his 25-year sentence for crimes in the Omarska and Keraterm camps in Prijedor, Zigic was approved early release by Hague Tribunal president Theodorn Meron.

“The report from the Graz Karlau prison in Austria, where Zigic served his sentence, speaks positively about his time serving the sentence and is in favour of the conclusion that Zigic will be able to reintegrate into society”, said Meron in his decision.

Zigic was sentenced in 2005 with four other men – Miroslav Kvocka, Dragoljub Prcac, Milojica Kos and Mladjo Radic.
