Witness Mujo Becirovic told the Sarajevo court on Thursday that Maric assaulted him and another man in the village of Lug in the Prozor municipality in August 1993.
Nikola beat us up using all sorts of objects. He hit me and Hamdo on our heads with some knife. He stabbed me in my left leg and in my foot with the knife. He fired bullets from a pistol around Hamdos head and squeezed his fingers with pliers, said witness Mujo Becirovic.
Becirevic also said that he saw Maric and another person shot at a man called Djuzel in the village of Paros in July 1993. The man was found dead afterwards.
Nidzo began shooting at him with a rifle. Djuzel began running away. The other soldier then shot as well. I could not see Djuzel fall down. Both of them shot at him, the witness said.
He recalled that after the shooting, Maric said: Let the crows eat him now.
Maric, a former member of the Croatian Defence Council, is charged with participating in murders, torture and other inhumane acts from November 1992 to October 1993.
Another prosecution witness called Mujo Periz also testified at Thursdays hearing that he was at a secondary school in Prozor in 1993 when a man called Nidzo, also known as Kobra, who he recognised in the courtroom as Maric, called out the names of six prisoners held at the school who he never saw again.
He called their names out. [A prisoner called] Bajro approached Nidzo, because he wanted to take his jacket. He did not let him take it, hit him in his chest and said: You will not need it, the witness testified.
The trial is due to continue on September 4.
