The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution’s indictment charges Frimel, as former Commander of the “Ivan Krndelj” Squad with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having unlawfully arrested and physically and mentally abused Serbs in Hrasno neighbourhood, Sarajevo.
According to the charges, at the beginning of October 1992 members of “Ivan Krndelj” Squad took Serb individuals to the premises of the shopping centre, where they abused them.
“They hit them all over their bodies with rifle butts, legs and hands. One person fell down due to the beating. After that Mario Frimel and two unidentified members of the Squad continued hitting the person all over his body with their boots on, while also beating the other arrested people at the same time,” the indictment alleges.
It further alleges that the beaten detainees were taken to “INA” Company premises before being transferred to the City Construction Institute building later that day and handed over to military police.
Frimel is defending himself while at liberty.
