Trial of Cvetkovic Postponed

The trial of Aleksandar Cvetkovic, who is charged with genocide in Srebrenica, has been postponed, because three State Prosecution witnesses fail to appear before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“One of the witnesses refused to come. He will be apprehended to the next hearing,” said Trial Chamber Chairman Darko Samaradzic.
 
He said that the two other witnesses failed to appear due to financial reasons and illness.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Aleksandar Cvetkovic, former member of the 10th Reconnaissance Squad with the Main Headquarters of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in genocide against civilians in Srebrenica in 1995.

According to the charges, Cvetkovic was a member of a shooting squad, which participated in the murder of several hundreds of Bosniaks on Branjevo farm.  

The trial is due to continue on Monday, December 30.
