The custody measure was ordered due to existence of fear that Vujovic and Duka might interfere with the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses and accomplices while at liberty.

“According to this decision, they may be held in custody until January 4, 2014,” the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The State Court said that, after having reviewed the State Prosecution’s material evidence, it determined that there was a grounded suspicion that Vujovic and Duka, who were arrested this week, committed persecution of the non-Serb population in the second half of 1992.

They are suspected of unlawful detention, deportation, murders, torture, physical and mental abuse of Bosniaks and Croats in Bileca municipality in 1992.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina alleges that Vujovic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Bileca, while Duka was Commander of Police with the Public Safety Station in Bileca at that time.
