Ljubinka Zivanovic, Secretary of the Association, says that only three skeletal remains have been found and identified this year and buried by families.

“We are not satisfied with the results, because the search process has to be much faster. We are waiting for disputable ossuaries to be opened in order to speed up the search process, because, for instance, 600 bodies have been kept in the ossuary in Banja Luka since 1995,” Zivanovic said.

Parents of Jovanka Simic from Brcko went missing in 1994. She found her father’s remains in 2006. She is still searching for her mother’s body, although her personal belongings were found next to her father’s remains.

“I asked the competent persons in Banja Luka to undertake additional digging at that locality in Poljaci, where my father was found, but, as far as I know, they have never done that,” she said.

Although invited, representatives of the District Prosecution did not attend the Assembly of the Association of the Missing and Killed Persons. Representatives of the police and the Institute for Search for the Missing Persons accepted the invitation to attend.
