The indictee’s travel documents have been confiscated as well. Police will pay random visits to him twice a day in order to check whether he respects the measures ordered against him.

In case the indictee violates any of the measures, he may be ordered back into custody.

The indictment charges Krsmanovic, former member of the Second Podrinje Light Infantry Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in the murders, rape, torture and other inhumane acts against Bosniak civilians in the Visegrad area.

The last hearing in Krsmanovic’s case was postponed, because The Hague Tribunal has still not responded to a request related to protected witnesses sent two months ago.

As per a request by the Defence, at the beginning of October the Trial Chamber submitted a letter to the Tribunal, so it could contact about ten witnesses, who had previously testified before The Hague Tribunal under protection measures.

“We are waiting for the Hague Tribunal’s response concerning the measures granted to the protected witnesses. Despite having urged them to respond, we have still not received anything,” Trial Chamber Chairman Darko Samardzic said, adding that this trial had lasted long and that the indictee had been held in custody for a long time.
