Zarko Milic, former Commander of a military police squad in Busovaca, said that he knew indictees Zoran Marinic and Zoran Milic and that Milic was a distant relative of his.

His Squad’s task was to guard locations at which incidents, in which soldiers participated in any way, happened. Commander Milic did not remember the events that took place in 1993, but he said that he heard about two cases of murder of civilians in Busovaca.

“I heard that Zoran and Zoran were shooting after consuming alcohol,” Milic said, adding that he heard from other people and newspapers later on that some civilians had been killed.

Marinic and Milic, former members of HVO, are on trial for having participated in the murder of four Bosniaks in the Busovaca area in 1993, causing of bodily injuries and the unlawful and arbitrary destruction of property.

Witness Milic said that Zoran Marinic, “for sure, was not member of his military police squad”. The witness explained that military policemen had badges or belts by which they could be recognised.

“I may have seen a badge on Marinic,” the witness said, adding that there were many badges with military police marks at the beginning of the war.

According to the State Court’s schedule, the trial is due to continue on September 12.
