State Prosecution witness Glavas said that he was arrested in June 1992 and taken, along with a few other Serbs, to the 9. maj school building in Pazaric.
As we were entering the school, we were hit. We were placed in the school gym… I remember that they beat people up that night. Guards invited two detainees to come out. When they came back, they were covered in blood and bruises, the witness said.
Glavas said that he once saw Mirsad Sabic in the school building. He pointed out that he could not confirm which function the indictee performed at that time.
Mirsad Sabic is charged, along with Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, with crimes committed in the 9. maj school building, the Silos detention camp and Krupa military barracks.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina alleges that Sabic was Commander of the Police Station in Pazaric in that period of time. Becir Hujic was Manager and Deputy Manager of Silos detention camp, just like Halid Covic. Kalember was a guard in Silos, while the other indictees were members of the civil, military and police authorities.
Glavas told the Court that he was wounded on June 28, 1992, when a grenade hit the school building. Two detainees were killed on that occasion. He said that no medical assistance was offered to him following the wounding.
Edina Residovic, Defence attorney of the first indictee, presented several documents indicating that Glavas received assistance after having been wounded. The witness said that he had never visited a doctor during the course of his detention.
Glavas said that he had not possessed weapons prior to being arrested. Defence attorney Residovic then presented a criminal report filed against the witness in 1992 due to the illegal possession of weapons.
Second witness Andrija Golub, who lived in Odzak village at the beginning of the war, was arrested and taken to Silos in June 1992.
I was detained in cell number four. I noticed that detainees were covered with bruises and beaten up, he said.
The witness said that detainees complained to Manager Becir Hujic due to bad conditions in Silos. Golub pointed out that there were both good and bad guards in the detention camp, adding that he heard detainees complaining about a Bubo. The witness left Silos after having spent eight months in detention.
At the beginning of his testimony he said that political parties armed the local population, adding that he received weapons from the Serbian Democratic Party, SDS, but he had handed it over prior to being arrested.
The trial is due to continue on July 18.
