Closed sessions represent the highest level of witness’ identity protection in the Tribunal’s practices.

The presentation of evidence about the allegations that the Republika Srpska Army under Mladic’s command committed genocide against about 7,000 Muslims from Srebrenica in July 1995, after having occupied it, is currently underway.

Mladic is also charged with the persecution of Muslims and Croats throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, which reached the scale of genocide in seven municipalities, terror against the local population in Sarajevo and taking UN “blue helmets” hostage.

According to a previous announcement, the prosecutors will continue presenting evidence against Mladic on May 30, when Momir Nikolic, the then Officer with the VRS Bratunac Brigade, will testify.

In 2003 Nikolic admitted guilt for crimes in Srebrenica. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
