Appeals against Srebrenica Crimes Verdict Next Week

In the coming week appeals against a first instance verdict in the case of Dusko Jevic, Mendeljev Djuric, Goran Markovic and Nedjo Ikonic are due to be presented before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Under the verdict pronounced in May 2012 Jevic and Djuric were sentenced to 35 and 30 years in prison for having assisted in the commission of genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995, while Markovic and Ikonic were acquitted of all charges. The presentation of appeals is scheduled for Monday, May 20.  
 
On Friday, May 24 the Defence of indictee Predrag Prosic is due to present its closing statement. Prosic is charged with having killed eight civilians in Sanski Most on May 27, 1992.
 
On Monday the Defence of Goran Saric will complete the presentation of evidence by introducing material evidence. Saric is on trial for crimes committed in the Sarajevo area in 1992.  
 
The last State Prosecution witness at the trial of Edin Dzeko, who is charged with crimes in Trusina and Jablanica, is due to be examined on Tuesday, May 21, while the Defence of Savo Babic, who is charged with crimes in Bratunac, will examine a protected State Prosecution witness on Monday next week.
 
The trial of Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Senad Hakalovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, who are charged with crimes in Trusina village in April 1993, continues on Tuesday as well.
 
The continuation of the trials of Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic, who are charged with crimes in Dretelj prison, near Capljina, and Oliver Krsmanovic for crimes in Visegra is scheduled for Tuesday.
 
The trial of Predrag Milisavljevic, Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic for crimes in Visegrad continues that same day, just like the trial of Najdan Mladjenovic and Savo Zivkovic at which the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will examine a court medicine expert.
 
On Wednesday the trials are due to continue in the case of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica; Zoran Dragicevic for crimes in Sarajevo, and Branko Vlaco, who is indicted for crimes in Vogosca. The trial of Veselko and Ivo Raguz, who are charged with crimes in Stolac and Capljina, is due to continue on that day too.  
 
The trial of Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, who are charged with crimes in the Hadzici area, is due to continue on Thursday.
 
The continuation of the trials of Nihad Bojadzic for crimes in Jablanica and Zoran Marinic and Zoran Milic, who are charged with crimes in Busovaca, is scheduled for Thursday as well.
 
The trials of Ramiz Avdovic and Iulian-Nicolae Vintila, who are charged with crimes in Sarajevo, and Dragomir Soldat, Velemir Djuric and Zoran Babic for crimes in Prijedor are due to continue on Friday next week.
 
The retrials of Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica and Senad Dautovic, who are charged with crimes in Bugojno, and Milan Peric, Spasoje Doder, Predrag Terzic and Aleksandar Cerovina, who are indicted for crimes in Kalinovik, are due to continue before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina next week. On Thursday the retrial is due to continue in the case of Momir Pelemis, who is charged with genocide in Srebrenica.
