Konjevic Denied Culpability
Konjevic stated that he was the member of the 11th Dubica Battalion of the Army of Republika Srpska and that in summer of 1992 he was in the field.
“We returned in mid-September and we stayed at home for about 10 days, from where we went back to Koridor. At the time of murder I recall being in the battlefield because a few members of our Battalion had been murdered, while many were wounded two days earleir. In the field it was rumoured that Hajdarevic was murdered by Kidzo, Prica and Miroslav Vidovic,” Konjevic stated.
He added that he had known Kidzo and Prica since childhood but they were never friends.
“They were trouble-makers and they plundered Muslim houses,” Konjevic stated.
Konjevic is charged with having, together with another person, murdered Hajdarevic on 31 August 1992 near his house in Kozarska Dubica.
At this hearing, Ragib Hajdarevic, brother of the murdered Remzija, testified as an additional defence witness, stating that he was at home watching the news on television, and he was informed about the murder that night.
“I immediately rushed there and saw the body on the ground. I reached for it, but a police officer attempted to stop me. I was in a state of shock, so I pushed the officer away and held my brother. There were many entry wounds on his body, and the scene was horrible. After half an hour I left home, where everyone was saying that Kidzo and a person known as Mikica whose family name is Konjevic, had murdered him,” Hajdarevic stated.
At this hearing, the District Prosecution also heard former police officers, Stojan Lazic and Milan Popovic. Lazic stated that he was tasked to inspect who the inviduals named Mikica and Kidzo were.
“Following a field inspection, I established that Mikica was the person named Milinko Konjevic, whereas Srecko Mandic was Kidzo,” Lazic stated.
Milan Popovic stated that after the murder of Hajderevic he went to secure the crime scene.
“The murder case was not solved, and when Kidzo died, somebody told me ‘Kidzo passed away, and you failed to solve the murder'”, Popovic noted.
The trial will continue on 10 April.
