Prosecutor Dzevad Muratbegovic said that the witness requested protection measures, including the exclusion of the public and a ban on publishing photographs or recordings from this hearing.

“He is an endangered witness due to the things he survived in “Viktor Bubanj”. The witness suffers from mental trauma,” the Prosecutor explained.

The Trial Chamber decided that the public could attend the testimony of the witness but the content of the testimony by the witness, who was assigned the pseudonym of C, must not be published.

Avdovic and Vintila are charged with having participated, as members of a joint criminal enterprise, in the establishment and maintenance of a system for abuse of Serb civilians in the period from June to the end of November 1992.

According to the charges, Avdovic was Commander of Guards on the fifth floor of the District Prison in Sarajevo and former “Viktor Bubanj” military barracks, while Vintila was a cook and guard in the former barracks.

The trial is due to continue on March 8.
