Stanisic and Milosevic: Traces of Blood in Petkovci Village

Elmira Karahasanovic, an expert witness, was a member of a team formed by the Bosnian Federal Police Administration, FPA, which in 2009 conducted crime scene investigation at the Cultural Center and two school buildings in the village of Petkovci.

She said that the samples taken from the damaged parts of the Cultural Center facade showed that the damage could have been caused by bullets.

“The results were positive in terms of presence of human blood,” Karahasanovic said.

The expert witness testified at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with having participated in the murder of more than 1,000 captured Bosniak men and boys from Srebrenica in the Petkovci village, the Zvornik municipality.

The Bosnian prosecution alleges that, among other things, Stanisic organized the clean up operation of Petkovci. Stanisic was the Commander of the Sixth Battalion of Zvornik Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army and Milosevic was his deputy.

The FPA team also took samples of damaged parts of facade of the coal cellar, an auxiliary building next to the “Desanka Maksimovic” school building. The expert witness said that those samples showed presence of human blood.

Bruno Franjic, a criminologist, also testified on Wednesday. He said that the bullet cases and bullets found next to the Cultural Center and the school’s coal cellar were fired from the same guns.

He further said that one bullet was fired from a revolver and that, as far as several of the bullet cases found at that place were concerned, it was not possible to determine from what type of guns they were fired.

The trial is due to continue on December 26.
