Custody for Safet Kovacevic Requested

The Bosnian State prosecution has asked that Safet Kovacevic, who was arrested on Thursday for suspicion that he committed war crimes in Bihac and Cazin, be ordered into custody.

“Custody was requested out of fear that the suspect might flee, as he has both Bosnian and Croatian passports. We also fear that at liberty he might try to obstruct the investigation and try to influence witnesses and accomplices,” the State Prosecution said.Safet Kovacevic also known as Pape, is suspected of having committed crimes against civilians and prisoners of war of Serb ethnicity as a member of the military police of the Bosnian Army Fifth Corps.The Bosnian Prosecution said that Kovacevic is under investigation in the “Atif Dudakovic et al case”. Dudakovic is a former Commander of the Bosnian Army Fifth corps.
