Testifying for the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dzafer Kaltak said that he was taken, along with his father, to the Secondary School Centre in Prozor at the beginning of August 1993 and that he saw indictee Jukic in the Centre. As he said, he used to see the indictee, who was dressed in Croatian Defence Council, HVO and “Kinder Unit” uniform, during the war.“One night we heard noise in the corridor. Jukic Zeljko entered the room, where we were held. He had a flashlight in his hand. He pointed the flashlight to my father and then to me. After that he pulled Edis Omanovic. Edis got up. Jukic kicked him with his leg. Nobody ever saw Edis again,” Kaltak said.He said that a few other people were taken away during that night, adding that none of them came back.Jukic is charged with having participated, in collaboration with other members of HVO and the Croatian Army, HV, in the persecution of Bosniak civilians, murders and forcible disappearances from Prozor in the period from July to September 1993.Witness Dzafer Kaltak, who was 16 during his detention in the School Centre, explained that he was released from the facility after having spent nine days in it, because he was a minor. His father Hamdo Kaltak confirmed that indictee Jukic took Edis Omanovic out of the room, where they were held, and that he had never found out what happened to Omanovic. Witness Alija Hujdur recalled the night when Omanovic was taken away.“I was lying, when I felt that some men entered the classroom. I can still remember the flashlight going from one person to another. Then I heard: ‘You, get up!’ When those men left the classroom, I noticed that Edis Omanovic was no longer there,” Hujdur said.He said that, after Omanovic had been taken away, other people told him that they “recognised Zeljko Jukic’s voice”, but he did not know him.Witness Esad Beganovic, the last witness examined at this hearing, said that he did not see who took Omanovic from the Secondary School Centre, but he heard that it was indictee Jukic.“I heard that several people were taken away. Their destiny is still unknown. I heard that it was done by Zeljko Jukic,” said Beganovic, who was brought to the Secondary School Centre on August 2, 1993.The trial is due to continue on Thursday, October 11, when new State Prosecution witnesses will be examined.
