Bojadzic: Double Custody Measure

Prosecutor Dika Omerovic explained that the indictee had “strong family relations and property in Serbia” and that he would be financially secure should he flee.
Defence attorney Edina Residovic said that the Prosecution’s motion was unfounded, because Bojadzic had been held in custody for more than three years as part of the criminal proceedings for an attack on Trusina village.
The indictee addressed the Trial Chamber, saying that he was informed about the criminal proceedings and arrested “three days in advance” and that he had never had an intention to flee.
“I love Bosnia and Herzegovina the most. I was ready to give my life for it. I find the suspicion that I might flee insulting,” Bojadzic said.
He was arrested in November 2009. The trial for charges against him and five other members of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina for crimes in Trusina village in 1993 began in September 2010.
In December 2011 the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed a second indictment againts Bojadzic, charging him with crimes in Jablanica in 1993. In April this year it filed a third one, charging him with crimes in Jablanica as well.
The custody order motion was filed after the Prosecution had filed the third indictment against Bojadzic, who is charged in his capacity as Deputy Commander of the “Zulfikar” Special Purposes Squad with the Main Command Headquarters of ABiH.
The Court will render a decision concerning the custody motion at a later stage.
