Prosecutor Slavko Krulj announced, during a status conference, that the Prosecution will examine seven witnesses and one expert witness and present material evidence.

The Defence said that it would provide a list of proposed witnesses once the Prosecution had completed the presentation of its evidence.

According to the Doboj District Prosecution’s charges, Esad and Dervis Cavalic, former HVO members, tortured and treated civilians in inhumane manner in detention camps in the JNA Center and Rabic military hangars, near Derventa in the period from April to June 1992.

Among other things, the indictment alleges that, on April 26, 1992 the indictees beat a prisoner with their legs and hands in the JNA Centre building in Derventa. Other HVO members later slaughtered the prisoner in the same room.

Esad and Dervis Cavalic pleaded not guilty on April 20.
