Vlahovic: Indictees Slap

Safet Suljovic said before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina that indictee Vlahovic, together with one uniformed and other armed men, entered his apartment, and physically attacked him and fired one shot between him and his son, which hit the couch.
Mr. Vlahovic took me and my son to the balcony. He had a Heckler and the other one had an automatic rifle. He asked me what you are, and called me a ‘Turk’, and cursed my mother. He slapped me, and took 500 marks from the checked shirt. He slapped me only once and I sat down, recalled Suljovic.
The witness added that indictee Vlahovic asked whether he had more money, to which he answered that he did not. After that, the witness said, the indictee fired a shot from the Heckler in the direction of his son.
He did not say a word, he just shot. (…) He threatened that he would kill us, said Suljovic, adding that the indictee said that he would come the next day and kill them all.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Vlahovic with having killed and participated in the murder of several people in the Grbavica, Vraca and Kovacici municipalities in 1992 and participated in the abuse of non-Serb citizens and took money and other valuable possessions from them.
A second indictment was filed against Vlahovic, charging him with the murder and forcible disappearances of 14 people and the rape and abuse of civilians. The indictee is being held in custody.
The witness emphasised that, together with eight other people, he left his apartment by crossing to the territory under control of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ABiH) on the Orthodox holiday of St. Peter, on July 12, 1992.
Regarding indictee Vlahovic, Suljovic said that he did not know him from before, but that one soldier had told him that the person who was coming to his apartment was Batko.
The soldier who escorted us to the building told us You were lucky that you were not killed, the witness said, adding that he saw the indictee on television and he also recognised him in the courtroom.
The witness added that Jusuf Muderizovic, who was his work colleague, told him how he took his son whom he never found.
During this trial, another witness testified without the presence of public.
Prosecutor Behajija Krnjic requested the exclusion of public because of the trauma he survived.
“The witness will speak about the rapes, which he personally experienced and also his closest relative. The witness also testified in The Hague with protective measures, said Krnjic, requesting the exclusion of the public.
The continuation of the trial is scheduled for April 4.
