Kornjaca et al: Doctor Claims Indictee is Fit for Trial

The doctor of the Bosnian Courts Detention Unit, Diana Kosarac, said on Friday that she believed that the defendant Milun Kornjaca is fit to attend hearings.
The emergency medical crew examined the defendant on February 10 and concluded that he had an attack of gastritis. I performed the additional examination. I believe that Mr Kornjaca is fit to attend trial, said Kosarac.
Kornjacas defence has agreed that he should be medically examined, but emphasised that Kosarac is not competent to give an opinion on the defendants capability to attend the process.
The Trial Chamber called Doctor Kosarac to testify after the defendant Kornjaca refused to attend the trial, claiming he had had a heart attack.
On several occasions Kornjaca warned the Trial Chamber that he was being poisoned or drugged in the detention unit. He also said that he was certain that on February 9 he had had a heart attack, which is why he could not attend the trial.
I request a medical examination to determine whether I am a manipulator or if I really suffered a heart attack. I want it to be established whether I was drugged or poisoned. I propose that the main hearing be put on hold while I am being examined, said Kornjaca.
After the testimony of Doctor Kosarac, the court decided to have the defendant medically examined.
Kornjaca, together with Milorad Zivkovic and Dusko Tadic, is charged with the expulsion of Bosniaks from the territory of Cajnice, as well as the murder of 11 civilians committed on May 19, 1992, at Mostina.S.U.
