Testifying for the Brcko District Prosecution, Djoko Majdancevic said that Bukvik village was occupied in September 1992, adding that local Serb residents were hiding in the nearby forests for a few days before trying to break through to Serb territories.
Witness Majdancevic said that he was captured by members of a Croat unit in Donji Rahic on September 14, 1992.
We were first transported to Ulice village, Brcko municipality, where they examined and beat us for two hours. Then they took me and some other men to a school building in Gornji Rahic. Indictee Hadzic then came to pick me up. He took me to another classroom and started examining me. He threatened me, while hitting me, Majdancevic said.
According to witness Majdancevic, a day or two later he was taken to the same classroom again. He said that a few soldiers beat him, while indictee Galib Hadzic just examined him.
He told one of the soldiers to ‘circle’ my name. I did not know what this meant. Later on I found out that this meant that I would be transferred to Tuzla, Majdancevic said, adding that he was transferred to Tuzla in October 1992 and released in July 1993.
The indictment alleges that Hadzic and Hodzic participated in the torture and inhumane treatment of Serb civilians and prisoners of war from the Bukvik area, Brcko District during 1992 and 1993.
The Prosecution alleges that Hadzic was a member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and worked as a crime police inspector with the Public Safety Station in Brcko, while Hodzic was a military policeman with the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who worked as a guard in detention camps collection centres.
It was planned that Borislav Piperac would testify for the Prosecution at the hearing today. However, due to verbal communication between him and Defence attorney Osman Mulahalilovic the hearing was adjourned.
Defence attorney Mulahalilovic said that he was offended by a Prosecution witness, while he was in the corridor during a break, adding that he did not feel ready to attend the continuation of the trial because of that.
Trial Chamber Chairman Nijazija Kalender accepted the Defence attorneys request and adjourned the hearing, scheduling the continuation of the trial for March 28, 2012.M.A.
