Custody for Rasema Handanovic Extended

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina accepts a State Prosecution’s motion and orders a two-month extension of custody for Rasema Handanovic, who is suspected of crimes in Trusina in April 1993.

As per the State Court’s decision, Handanovic will remain in custody due to a danger that she might influence witnesses, contact accomplices and try to flee from Bosnia and Herzegovina if released to liberty.

During the custody extension motion hearing State Prosecutor Vesna Budimir said that she would examine about 15 witnesses and file an indictment within the next two months.

Suspect Handanovic was extradited from the United States of America, USA to Bosnia and Herzegovina in December last year.

The State Prosecution suspect Handanovic, former member of “Zulfikar” Special Purposes Squad with the Main Command Headquarters of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, of participating in an attack on Trusina village on April 16, 1993.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina alleges that 18 civilians and four members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who had previously surrendered, were killed in the attack, while several persons, including two children, were wounded.
