The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina says that Bartulovic was one of the captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who were held in buildings in Bugojno area, where they were abused and forced to perform hard labour.

The remains were found in Cipuljici village after the State Prosecution obtained information about the burial location of Bartulovic on the basis of a guilt admission agreement concluded with a person indicted for war crimes committed in Bugojno.

Enes Handzic and Osman Sego, who were recently sentenced to eight and five years in prison respectively, concluded guilt admission agreements with the Prosecution.

Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica and Senad Dautovic are currently on trial before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for crimes committed in Bugojno. Alija Osmic has been sentenced to 11 years for those same crimes.
