Following the Defence’s presentation, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina objected, claiming the evidence was irrelevant.

“We object to the relevancy of all of the pieces of evidence, because none of them pertains to the events that took place in Srebrenica in July 1995. The evidence presented today exclusively speaks about Srebrenica not being a demilitarized zone in the mentioned period. However, that specific part of the story is not covered by the indictment against Ivanovic,” Prosecutor Dubravko Campara said.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Zeljko Ivanovic with having participated in the capture of a large group of men and the abduction and shooting of more than 1,000 men at the Kravica Agricultural Cooperative on July 13, 1995.

At this hearing the Prosecution announced it would provide the Trial Chamber with transcripts of statements given by two more witnesses and an expert witness at the trial of Momir Nikolic before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY, in the Hague.

In March 2006, Nikolic, a former Republika Srpska Army officer, was sentenced before the ICTY to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity committed in Srebrenica in July 1995.

Ivanovic’s trial began in late August 2009.

The next hearing is due to take place on February 4, 2011.
