Kornjaca et al: Cajnice Crimes Indictment Confirmed
This post is also available in: Bosnian
The indictees are charged with having participated in a broad and systematic attack against the population in Cajnice from mid April to the end of May 1992, which resulted in “detention, murder, forcible resettlement, torture and other inhumane acts against Bosniaks”.
The State Prosecution claims that Kornjaca was Commander of the “Plavi orlovi” (“Blue Eagles”) paramilitary unit, Tadic was a member of the same unit and Zivkovic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Cajnice and a member of the Crisis Committee in the town.
The indictment alleges that on May 19, 1992 or on an approximate date following the death of a “Blue Eagles” Paramilitary Unit member, Kornjaca, Zivkovic and Tadic participated in the murder of 11 civilians detained in the hunting lodge in Mostina, Cajnice municipality, by shooting them with automatic rifles and throwing grenades.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina contends that the civilians were detained in a metal container, in which hygienic conditions were bad, while also being deprived of fresh air, light, food and water. They were allegedly questioned and brutally abused.
Acting on a warrant issued by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA, arrested the three indictees in December 2009. They have been held in custody since then.
