“I plead not guilty,” indictee Novalic said, after having confirmed that he understood the indictment and the crimes of which he is charged.

The State Prosecution charges the former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, with having raped one woman, threatening her by saying that he “would kill her if she screamed”, in a village in Konjic municipality in September 1992.

The indictment alleges that he came, armed and accompanied by an unidentified ABiH member, to the house where the victim lived with her husband.

The sentence prescribed by the law for this type of crime is at least 10 years in prison.

As per the legal regulations, the main trial is due to begin 30 to 60 days from now.
