The Association of Court Reporters, AIS, held another meeting on February 18 this year, focusing in particular on a regional conference to be organized by the BIRN Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina in late May.

All AIS representatives agreed that this informal group should take part in the upcoming regional conference, which will have an educational character.

The Conference will be attended by representatives of the media, local judiciary and legal experts, as well as other representatives of NGOs involved in transitional justice issues.

Proposed conference topics include, among other things, education of journalists working with leading media outlets, rights of minorities and minors in regard to reporting, and public presentation of information that directly refers to investigations or trials.

Participants at the AIS meeting also discussed cooperation between the media and the Public Relations Section of the State Court.

It was agreed that a meeting with the Section management would be convened. Some outstanding issues that have been emphasized by the AIS members once again include the need to receive information from the State Court in a timely manner, submission of photos from open hearings and organization of press briefings such as those convened by the Hague Tribunal.

The participants also discussed the possibility of educating students of the Faculty of Political Sciences.

In cooperation with the Faculty management, a possibility for AIS members holding lectures on reporting war-crimes trials will be considered. This issue will be discussed in detail at a future AIS meeting.

Participants at the meeting included Lea Tajic (Konrad Adenauer), Anisa Suceska (BIRN), Mirela Hukovic-Hodzic (BH Radio), Erna Mackic (BIRN), Merima Husejnovic (BIRN), Aida Alic (BIRN), Velma Saric (IWPR), Muamer Selimbegovic (FENA) and Denis Dzidic (BIRN).
