One and a half years after the beginning of the trial, the State prosecution has completed its presentation of material evidence. The four men are charged with crimes against humanity.
Presentation of closing arguments is scheduled for October 15.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Zdravko Bozic, Mladen Blagojevic, Zeljko Zaric and Zoran Zivanovic with having guarded the buses that transported men from Srebrenica to the school building in Bratunac, where they were mistreated and where some of them were killed.
The indictment alleges that the four indictees were members of the Military Police Squad with the Bratunac Brigade of the VRS in July 1995.
The State Prosecution presented, as additional evidence, reports on exhumations from Budak and Pusmulici graves, which were found in the general area of Srebrenica. These reports, made by the International Commission for Missing Persons, ICMP, and the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office in Tuzla, indicate that human remains and other contents were found in the graves.
The Defence objected to the admission of this evidence, claiming that the exhumation reports constitute “partial documents”, because they do not contain expert pathology, identification reports or death certificates pertaining to the people found in the grave.
The Trial Chamber accepted the material evidence and concluded the evidence presentation process.
The trial of the four indictees began on April 20, 2007.
