Mirsad Kulenovic and Hamid Music, former detainees in the school building in Hadzici, spoke about “a man wearing a black hat”, claiming that his name was Rade Veselinovic. The two Prosecution witnesses identified Veselinovic in the courtroom.
“Veselinovic was dressed in military uniform. He carried a machine gun when he captured me in my apartment and took me to the school building on May 17, 1992. He was wearing a black hat and a large wooden cross on his chest. I think that, in the beginning, he was member of the military police but I do not know what happened afterwards,” Kulenovic said.
The Prosecution charges Rade Veselinovic, a former member of the Military Police Squad with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, among other things, with having participated in the murder, capture, detention, torture and physical and mental abuse of non-Serbian population from Hadzici municipality in the course of 1992.
Mirsad Kulenovic said that he was taken to other locations, together with other detainees, to perform forced labour several times in 1992, claiming that Rade Veselinovic took him to those locations sometimes.
“Rade came there two times in order to take us to the military post office, where we performed forced labour, by unloading ammunition. We were beaten by some unknown people. Members of the ‘Crvene kapice’ (‘Little Red Caps’) used to come to the school building. They forced us to fight with each other, lick each other’s behind and have sexual intercourse,” Kulenovic said.
Kulenovic was exchanged in December 1992.
Hamid Music said that Veselinovic participated in mistreatment of people from Musici village, who were detained in the school building.
“Not only Bosniaks and Bosnian Croats, but his people as well, were afraid of him. Rade did not care who he would mistreat,” Music said.
The Defence did not have any questions for this witness, adding that he would be invited to testify in favour of the indictee.
The trial is due to continue on September 24, when two Prosecution witnesses will be examined.
