The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina excluded the public from the trial of Momir Savic due to the testimony of protected witness T.B., who was supposed to appear as a Prosecution witness.

Trial Chamber Chairman Saban Maksumic said that the Chamber approved the Prosecution’s request to exclude the public “in order to protect the intimate life of the witness and his family members”.

“We cannot further explain our decision, because, by doing that, we might disclose the witness’ identity,” Maksumic said.

The State Prosecution charges Momir Savic, as a member of a paramilitary formation and then also commander of the Third Squad with Visegrad Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, with having participated in the deportation, capture, beating, murder and rape committed in the wider area of Visegrad town in the course of 1992.

As per the official timetable of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina the trial is due to continue on September 19.
