In an appeal against the verdict in the case of Zurahid Mujcinovic for crimes committed in Srebrenik, a Defence Counsel has asked that the accused be acquitted or a new trial set, stressing that the accused is the victim of a rigged investigation and that he was never in the Youth Centre in Rapatnica nor did he torture the detainees.

During the nine-month trial, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina tried to prove that Zurahid Mujcinovic and Sulejman Hrustic committed war crimes in Srebrenik, which is denied by their Defences, who consider the indictment as unfounded.

The Bosnian State Court has sentenced ex Bosnian army soldier to eight years in prison for the inhumane treatment of Serb civilians in Srebrenik, while his co-defendant was freed.

Presenting their closing statements, indictees Zurahid Mujcinovic and Sulejman Hrustic, who are charged with crimes in the Srebrenik area, and their Defence teams call for a verdict of release.

As the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that the last witness at the trial of Zurahid Mujcinovic and Sulejman Hrustic could not be examined due to health reasons, the presentation of evidence was completed and presentation of closing statements scheduled for September.

As a witness fails to appear, the continuation of the trial for crimes in the Srebrenik area has been postponed.

Testifying before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Defence witnesses say that they neither saw nor heard that indictee Zurahid Mujcinovic went to the detention unit in Rapatnica, where, according to the charged, Serb prisoners were abused, in the summer of 1992.

The continuation of trial for crimes in the municipality of Srebrenik is postponed after one of the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina witnesses failed to appear at the hearing.

At the trial for crimes in the municipality of Srebrenik, a witness for the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that he did not know who beat him several times in the village of Rapatnica, where he was held in captivity in the summer of 1992. Witness Blazan Todic said that in mid-July 1992 he was taken to Rapatnica, where he was held captive for 16 days, adding that he was not active in the military.

Presenting their introductory arguments at the trial for crimes in the Srebrenik area, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina says that witnesses will prove that indictees Zurahid Mujcinovic and Sulejman Hrustic are guilty, while the Defence says that the indictment is "unfounded".
