An ex-member of the Red Berets unit told the retrial of former Serbian security service chiefs Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic that the unit persecuted and murdered Bosniaks in the Doboj area in 1992. A protected prosecution witness told Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic’s retrial at the Mechanism for International Tribunals in The Hague on Tuesday that the Red Berets unit expelled, killed and tortured Bosniaks in and around Doboj in Bosnia in May 1992.

10. April 2018.
A Sarajevo court found former Bosnian Serb Army serviceman Djordje Simic not guilty of crimes against humanity, clearing him of killing a Bosniak man in the village of Sevarlije in 1992. The state court in Sarajevo found Djordje Simic not guilty on Tuesday, ruling that the prosecution had not proved beyond reasonable doubt that he killed the Bosniak man after seizing him from a field in Sevarlije, near the town of Doboj, on June 12, 1992.

28. March 2018.
A prosecution witness told the trial of former Serbian State Security chiefs Jovica Stanisic and Franko Simatovic that Serbian Red Berets paramilitaries killed Bosniaks and Croat captives in the town of Doboj in 1992. Prosecution witness Edin Hadzovic told the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in The Hague on Wednesday that Red Berets paramilitaries killed Bosniak and Croat captives in Doboj on July 12, 1992.

6. March 2017.
A prosecution witness claimed that military policeman Mehmed Alesevic, who is on trial for war crimes, was present while other soldiers beat him up at a motel in Buzim in 1995. Testifying at the trial of Mehmed Alesevic at the state court on Monday, prosecution witness Safet Dzaferovic said that the defendant was there when he was beaten, although he did not participate in the assault.


16. February 2017.
Former Bosnian Serb Army soldier Djorgje Simic was indicted for crimes against humanity against non-Serb civilians in the Doboj area in 1992 and 1993. The Bosnian state court on Thursday confirmed the indictment of Djorgje Simic, who is accused of involvement in the persecution of the non-Serb civilian population in the Doboj municipality from May 1992 until autumn 1993.

A witness alleged that former special forces policeman Slobodan Karagic, who is accused of murder and unlawful detentions in Doboj, threatened to throw him into a river in 1992. Prosecution witness Ibro Spahic told the state court in Sarajevo on Monday that he was threatened by Slobodan Karagic, a Serb former Red Berets special police unit commander who is charged with participating in attacks against the Croat and Bosniak population in the Doboj area from spring to autumn 1992.

A prosecution witness told the war crimes trial of former Serb special policeman Slobodan Karagic that the defendant raped her in Doboj when she was 15. The protected prosecution witness codenamed K-1 told the court in Sarajevo on Monday that the defendant Slobodan Karagic, a former commander of the Red Berets special police unit, raped her in Doboj in 1992.
