A state prosecution witness testifying at the trial of four former members of the Bosnian Serb Army said a neighbour of his told him that the defendants had killed civilian Aisa Popovic.
Presenting its closing statement before the Bosnian state court appeals chamber, Milun Kornjacas defense attorney said it hadnt been proven that the defendant had effective control over the Plavi Orlovi (Blue Eagles) paramilitary formation in Cajnice.
The state prosecution has requested that Milun Kornjaca, the former Bosnian Serb Army commander of the Plavi Orlovi Unit, be convicted of command responsibility for war crimes committed in Cajnice in 1992.
A witness at the Stevo, Milosav, Marijan and Slavko Jovanovic trial said that prior to 2011 he didnt know where to file a report against the defendants for killing his mother.
The Bosnian State Prosecution has charged Dusko Kornjaca with committing war crimes in Cajnice municipality in the eastern part of the country in 1992.
Testifying at a trial dealing with the wartime murder of civilians in the Cajnice area, a state prosecution witness said his neighbour told him he had been taken away by Milosav, Marijan and Slavko Jovanovic, who were members of the Bosnian Serb Army at the time.
Testifying at the trial of former Bosnian Serb Army soldiers, two state prosecution witnesses said they found out that their children had been murdered and burned inside a house in the village of Medosevici. They said the murders were committed by the defendants, who were also their neighbours at the time.
The retrial of former Bosnian Serb Army commander Milun Kornjaca began with introductory statements by the state prosecution. Kornjaca, the former commander of the Plavi Orlovi Unit (English translation: the Blue Eagles Unit), has been charged with war crimes in the Cajnice area in 1992.
During cross-examination, state prosecution witness Mevludin Medosevic said his two nephews were locked and burned alive in a house by Bosnian Serb Army soldiers Mladen and Marijan Jovanovic.
