Interpol has issued a ‘red notice’ – the closest mechanism to an international arrest warrant – calling for the arrest of Ivica Kolobara, who is accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes against the civilian population.

However the Bosnian state prosecution did not respond by the time of publication to BIRN’s inquiry about details of the alleged crimes committed by Kolobara.

Kolobara, aged 54, has citizenship of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, according to Interpol’s website.

A man named Ivica Kolobara was mentioned several times in a second-instance verdict in 2011 that convicted Bosnian Croat fighters Marko Radic, Dragan Sunjic, Damir Brekalo and Mirko Vracevic.

Radic, Sunjic, Brekalo and Vracevic were found guilty, as officers and members of the First Bijelo Polje Battalion of the Croatian Defence Council’s Second Brigade, of crimes against humanity against Bosniak civilians in the Mostar area in the period from July 1993 to March 1994.

The crimes included murders, detention, torture, sexual violence and persecution.
