Naser Oric Expected to Enter Plea Next Week

Oric and Muhic have been charged with killing three Serb prisoners in the villages of Zalazje, Lolici and Kunjerac in 1992. Oric was the former commander of Bosnian Army units in Srebrenica, and Muhic was a member of those forces. The plea hearing is scheduled for Monday, October 19.
On Friday, October 23, the first state prosecution witness will be examined at the trial of ten defendants charged with kidnapping passengers from a train at the Strpci railway station. The passengers were killed in the Visegrad area later on. The state prosecution has charged Luka Dragicevic, Boban and Petko Indjic, Obrad and Novak Poluga, Dragan Sekaric, Oliver Krsmanovic, Radojica Ristic, Vuk Ratkovic and Mico Jovicic with the killing.
The appeals chamber will hold a hearing in the Zaim Lalicic retrial on Friday. The first instance chamber of the Bosnian state court sentenced Lalicic to nine years in prison for rape and the inhumane treatment of civilians in the Hrasnica area, near Sarajevo, in 1992 and 1993.
Gligor Begovic is due to testify in his defense before the Bosnian state court on Wednesday, October 21. Begovic has been charged with committing crimes in the Batkovic detention camp in the municipality of Bijeljina in 1992.
On the same day, a third instance chamber will hold a session in the case of Veselko and Ivo Raguz, former members of the Croatian Defense Council. The state court appeals chamber sentenced both defendants to three years in prison for abusing four detainees in the Dretelj detention camp, near Capljina, in 1993.
Veselko and Ivo Raguz were acquitted under a first instance verdict of charges of war crimes in the Stolac and Capljina areas. The appeals chamber partially repealed the verdict and ordered a retrial. After the retrial, the parties had the right to file further appeals, since the defendants were acquitted under the first instance verdict.
Trials for genocide in Srebrenica, as well as crimes in Sanski Most, Zvornik, Bihac, Konjic, Bileca, Trnovo, Hrasnica and Tarcin, near Sarajevo, Odzak, Rogatica, Srebrenik, Mostar, Prijedor, Livno, Teslic, Cajnice, Bijeljina and Prozor will continue next week.
