Ancic, who lives in Croatia, again failed to appear at a plea hearing for crimes committed in Dretelj detention camp, near Capljina, in the summer of 1993.
At the last hearing held on September 30 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, was informed by “Primorac and Partners” attorney office that Ancic had health problems.
Acting on an order issued by the Court, the court medicine experts made findings and opinion about the indictee’s health condition.
On the basis of medical findings obtained from the Cardio Vascular Clinics in Split, court expert Senad Pesto said that Ancic had a heart attack, but physicians intervened within an optimal timeframe. According to his conclusion, there are no obstacles to indictee’s attendance at the trial.
Court expert Enra Suljic, neurologist and psychiatrist, said that indictee Ancic received therapy and that he was previously treated due to a post-traumatic disorder.
She determined that there was no reason for which the indictee would not be able to attend hearings with certain breaks.
The Prosecution charges Ancic in his capacity as former Manager of Dretelj detention camp and Commander of Dretelj military barracks.
“He had full control over the conditions in Dretelj detention camp and of the lives of about 2,000 Bosniak civilians,” the indictment alleges.
