In the upcoming period the Defence will familiarise itself with the transcripts provided to it and submit them to the Prosecution. At the next status conference the parties will agree upon the further course of the trial.

The last hearing held on May 27 was closed to public, because a confidential letter from the Hague Tribunal concerning protected witnesses was considered. Therefore, the public does not know whether some witnesses will be examined and, if so, which ones, and whose testimonies will be heard at the trial.

As per a request by the Defence, at the beginning of October last year the Court of BiH submitted a letter to the Tribunal in order to be able to contact about ten persons, who had testified under protected measures at the Hague.

Those witnesses testified at the trials of Milan and Sredoje Lukic before the Hague Tribunal. They were sentenced, in December 2012, to life imprisonment and 27 years in prison respectively for having committed crimes in Visegrad.

The indictment alleges that Krsmanovic, former member of the Second Podrinje Light Infantry Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, is charged with having participated in the murders, rape, torture and other inhumane acts committed against Bosniak civilians.

A new status conference is due to be held on July 8.
