Representatives of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina say everything is part of the regular legal procedure and that there are no complications.
“Constitutional Court has quashed the second instance verdict by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus returning the case to the appeals procedure. Therefore, the Appeals Chamber held a public hearing once again in this case and would pass a second instance verdict after it examined the appeals,” they said.
The Appeals Chamber has yet to decide on the length of the sentence.
The Constitutional Court quashed the second instance sentence by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for six former convicts after it established that the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina was wrongly implemented.
In implementing this decision, the State Court cancelled on November 18 last year the carrying out of the sentence to Slobodan Jakovljevic, Aleksandar Radovanovic, Branislav Medan, Brano Dzinic, Milenko Trifunovic and Petar Mitrovic, who were sentenced to between 28 and 33 years of prison for aiding and abetting the Srebrenica genocide.
Although the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time quashed prison sentences of another four convicts, they underwent retrial and were issued new sentences.
The defence of Petar Mitrovic, who was convicted of participating in the execution of around 1,000 Bosniaks in agricultural co-operative at Kravica, presented their appeal on January 22, 2014, and the defence of five others presented their appeals the next day.
