Trial Chamber Chairwoman Minka Kreho announced that the three witnesses had informed the Witness Support Section that they did not want to appear at the trial.

Commenting on the absence of the witnesses, Prosecutor Remzija Smailagic said that one of them said that he would come.

The Prosecutor included a few pieces of material evidence in the case file, including documents from a database of the Hague Tribunal’s Prosecution, with which she wanted to prove that Veselko Raguz was Commander of the Fourth Battalion with “Knez Domagoj” Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO.

Besides that, she presented documents related to the salary of indictee Veselko Raguz for July 1993.

The Defence attorneys were not able to express their opinion about these documents, because they had “prepared for examination of witnesses”.

Veselko Raguz, former Commander of the Fourt Battalion with the “Knez Domagoj” Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, is charged with having ordered and participated in the arrest and detention of civilians from Stolac and Capljina during the summer of 1993, while Ivo Raguz, former member of that Brigade, is charged with having participated in the abuse of prisoners.

The trial is due to continue on February 12.
