Trial Chamber Chairman Darko Samardzic did not explain the Court’s decision at this hearing. However, Samardzic asked Milana Borovcanin-Bulic, additional Defence attorney of the indictee, to speak to him and explain to him the procedures related to the examination of witnesses.
I would like to ask you to explain to the indictee the difference between cross and direct examination and the fact that he has the right to invite a witness to testify in his defence and to ask the witness what he wants, Samardzic said.
The indictee failed to appear in the courtroom due to his bad health. It was said that a doctor would examine him during the day.
Milun Kornjaca, former Commander of the Plavi orlovi (Blue Eagles) paramilitary unit, is charged with having participated in the persecution of Bosniaks from the Cajnice area, including murder of 11 civilians at Mostina on the outskirts of Cajnice on May 19, 1992.
The trial has been postponed until August 13, 2012.
