Serbian attorney Vladimir Petrovic represented Hadzic at his initial appearance before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY. Petrovic said that Hadzic had received and “analysed” The Hague Prosecution’s revised indictment.

Hadzic refused to have the indictment read out at his initial appearance in courtroom.

Responding to a question made by judge O-Gon Kwon, Deputy President of ICTY, who oversaw Hadzic’s initial appearance before the Tribunal, Petrovic said that Hadzic “will not enter a plea at this hearing”.

Judge Kwon said that a new hearing at which Hadzic would enter his plea, would be scheduled within the next 30 days.

Hadzic, who is charged with crimes against humanity and the violation of the laws and customs of war in RSK in 1991 and 1992, was arrested in Serbia on Wednesday, July 20 this year after more than seven years on the run.
