“The court has rendered a decision to terminate the custody measure and Labidi will be released from detention once the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received evidence from the Police Administration in Zavidovici that Labidi does not have valid Bosnian travel documents,” Hecimovic said.

He added that the state prosecution filed a custody extension motion, but the defence objected, asking the court to terminate the remand and impose orher restrictions on Labidi instead.

According to the charges, in June 2014 Labidi went to Syria with his family and joined units under the umbrella of so-called Islamic State, which the United Nations has declared a terrorist organisation. As previous hearings were told, Labidi was 15-and-a-half when he went to Syria with his mother.

The indictment alleges that in Syria, Labidi joined his stepfather Emir Alisic, who has been charged. It further alleges that Labidi was a member of units commanded by men called Goran Pavlovic and Ramo Pazara, as well as the Bejt Komandos unit.

Labidi stayed in Syria until his capture. He was extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 2019 and has been held in custody since.
