Verdict for Odzak War Crimes Expected Next Week

Next week the Bosnian state court will hand down a verdict in the trial of Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, Pavo Glavas and Ilija Glavas.

The defendants, all former members of the 102nd Brigade of the Croatian Defense Council, have been charged with the rape, assault, abuse, humiliation and intimidation of Serb women in Odzak during 1992. The verdict will be announced on Tuesday, December 15.

On Monday, December 14, the first defense witness will testify at the Goran Vujovic trial at the Bosnian state court. Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic have been charged with war crimes in Bileca in 1992.

On Tuesday, December 15, appeals will be presented in the case of Indira Kameric. In April 2015, the Bosnian state court sentenced Kameric to three years in prison for war crimes in Bosanski Brod.

On Tuesday, December 15, Ramiz Avdovic’s defense will continue presenting its closing statement. Avdovic and Iulian-Nicolae Vintila have been charged with war crimes in Sarajevo.

On Tuesday, December 15, a status conference will held in the case of Zijad Nanic, Esad Kudelic, Vahid Bajraktarevic, Senad Salkic, Hasan Mustafic, Mehmed Alesevic, Nedzad Bapic and Samir Isakovic. The defendants have been charged with war crimes in Buzim.

On Wednesday, December 16, the first state prosecution witness will testify at the trial of Nikola Zovko, Petar Krndelj, Kreso Rajic and Ivica Cutura. The defendants have been charged with war crimes in the Capljina area.

On Thursday, December 17, a pretrial status conference will be held in the case of Mile Pazin, Ivica Markovic and Vide Kresic. The defendants have been charged with war crimes in Stolac.

On Thursday, December 17, a hearing will be held in the Radomir Vukovic case to discuss a decision handed down by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In January 2012, the Bosnian state court found Vukovic guilty of assisting in the commission of the Srebrenica genocide and sentenced him to 31 years in prison.

Trials for war crimes committed in Srebrenica, Zvornik, Sanski Most, Rogatica, Srebrenik, Prijedor, Livno, Mostar, Visegrad, Bosanska Krupa, Hadzici, Ljubuski, Zavidovici, Bijeljina, Cajnice and Prozor are also scheduled to continue next week.
