Acimovic’s defense attorney, Dragan Gotovac, confirmed that custody measures had been ordered to prevent his client from interfering with the investigation by influencing witnesses and other suspects.

The state prosecution is investigating allegations that Acimovic ordered the transport of approximately 1000 Srebrenica civilians, who were unlawfully detained a school building in Rocevic in the municipality of Zvornik. The civilians were transported to the banks of the Drina river in the village of Kozluk, where they were executed.

Acimovic was the commander of the Second Battalion of the Zvornicka Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army.

Acimovic was arrested by the State Investigation and Protection Agency in Zvornik on November 30.

Testifying as a witness before the Hague Tribunal in 2013, Acimovic said he had refused to execute an order to shoot Bosniak captives detained in Rocevic on two occasions.
