At today’s status conference, prosecutor Remzija Smailagic said she planned to examine 58 witnesses, including five protected witnesses, and present approximately 250 pieces of material evidence.

Ivica Kraljevic, Mate Jelcic, Slavko Skender, Stojan Odak, Vice Bebek, Vinko Radisic and Dragan Milos have been charged with participating in crimes at the VIZ prison in Ljubuski from late April 1993 to March 1994.

According to the charges, Kraljevic, Jelcic and Skender were managers of the VIZ prison in Ljubuski. Odak, Bebek, Radisic and Milos were members of the Croatian Defense Council’s military police and guarded the prison. All of them have been charged with participating in a joint criminal enterprise aimed at implementing a system of detention and abuse.

According to the state prosecution’s charges, about 200 Bosniaks, including women and children, were detained in the VIZ facility. They were held in inhumane conditions, tortured, abused, beaten and robbed.

Nedjeljko Matic was originally charged with the other defendants, but the case against him was separated.
