Jadranko Saran, Samir Sabic and Zijad Kadic have been charged with detaining Serb and Croat civilians as well as one prisoner of war in Bosanska Krupa. The defendants allegedly killed and inhumanely treated the detainees.

Saran was the head of the public safety station in Bosanska Krupa, Sabic was the commander of a police division in Jesenica and Kadic was a police officer.

Under one of the counts in the indictment, Zijad Kadic has been charged with wounding civilian and former prisoner Milka Curguz while she was performing forced labour.

The statements of spouses Mark and Mare Obradovic were presented at today’s hearing. They said they were captured and detained in their house in Hasani on September 24, 1995.

In her statement from 2005, Mara Obradovic said two young children were also detained, and that they were captured by police from Bosanska Krupa.

They said they were taken to Jasenica, where they spent 15 days and performed forced labour.

“All of us were forced to work, I worked alone in an ambulance,” Mara Obradovic said. She said she was ordered to wash clothes and dishes.

She said she saw a lot of harassment in Jasenica.

Marko Obradovic said that he was ordered to watch over sheep and cows. Both witnesses said a detainee named Milka Curguz told them she was wounded by a police officer named Apica.

The defense teams objected to legality of the statements, and said they were given before the beginning of the investigation.

The next hearing has been scheduled for October 28. The statements of deceased witnesses will be presented at the next hearing.
