The Bosnian state prosecution has filed an indictment against Suad Ramic, a former member of the Bosnian Army who’s been accused of committing crimes against civilians in the municipality of Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje in 1992.

According to the state prosecution, Ramic physically and mentally abused Croat civilians in July 1992. Ramic and a few other members of the Bosnian Army allegedly mistreated two Croat men in front of the fire brigade station in Gornji Vakuf and then took them to a nearby restaurant, where a number of civilians were held in detention. Ramic and others then allegedly escorted the civilians to a swimming pool next to the restaurant. They shot in the direction of the civilians, shooting just above their heads.

“Afterwards Ramic forced them to swim in the empty swimming pool, while shooting in their direction and hitting the swimming pool floor near them. This caused severe mental and physical pain to the civilians. They were then forced to carry grenades to the frontline,” the state prosecution announced.

The indictment has been filed with the Bosnian state court for confirmation.
