At today’s hearing of the Nihad Bojadzic trial, the defense presented more than 100 pieces of material evidence, most of which refer to the defendant’s movements and his status in the period covered by the indictment.
Bojadzic was the deputy commander of Zulfikar Squad with the Supreme Command Headquarters of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The indictment alleges that he assaulted and sexually abused Croat detainees in the Battle of Neretva Museum in Jablanica in 1993.
Defense attorney Vasvija Vidovic presented evidence about the movements of the Zulfikar Unit of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the positions and movements of defendant Bojadzic within that unit.
Vidovic also presented evidence on who was responsible for the treatment and detention of prisoners held at the Battle of Neretva Museum.
Vidovic said she would also like to include documents describing combat activities and the complexity of the situation in the area of Mount Igman and Jablanica. She also wanted to include documents referring to the engagement and accommodation of members of the Zulfikar Unit on Mount Igman.
“This document is relevant with regards to the movement of the Zulfikar Unit and the defendant himself,” Vidovic said, presenting a document issued by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 24, 1993.
Vidovic also presented evidence referring to the credibility of several prosecution witnesses, including statements given by protected witnesses to the Intelligence and Security Agency.
A photo of Nihad Bojadzic taken in the period of time covered by the indictment was also included in the case file at this hearing.
Prosecutor Sedin Idrizovic objected to the authenticity and relevance of the evidence describing the events on Mount Igman.
The defense completed its presentation of its material evidence. Bojadzic will testify on May 7.
