Prosecutor Miroslav Janjic said that by extending the court ban on Milovanovic meeting witnesses, the court would ensure that the process would be conducted successfully and would prevent possibly influencing witnesses.

The defense proposed that the prosecution’s proposal be rejected, on the grounds that “the indictee cannot possibly know the witnesses’ movements”.

According to the State Prosecution’s indictment, Milovanovic, a former member of the Army of Republika Srpska, is charged with the rape of a Croat woman in the village of Sase in May 1992.

Milovanovic allegedly committed the rape while threatening the victim with a knife and saying that he would kill her if she told anyone.

The court will render a decision concerning the proposal at a later stage.
