Teslic crimes trial opens next week

The trial of Pero Radisic, who is charged with crimes against Bosniak civilians in Teslic, is due to begin before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, on Friday, January 30.

Radisic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, is charged with having participated in the abuse, inhumane treatment and forcing civilians from the Teslic area to perform hard labbour in 1992 and 1993.

On Monday, January 26 the Prosecution of BiH is due to present its closing statement at the trial of Dragan Sekaric, former member of the Territorial Defence and “Osvetnik” (“Avenger”) paramilitary formation, who is charged with having participated in an attack on Lozje – Kokino Selo village, Gorazde municipality, as well as murders, rape and physical abuse of non-Serb civilians n Visegrad.

On Tuesday, January 27 the Prosecution is due to continue presenting its closing statement at the trial of Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic. The former members of the Croatian Defence Forces, HOS, are charged with having committed crimes against Serbs in Dretelj, near Capljina, in 1992.

The beginning of presentation of closing statements at the retrial of Mehura Selimovic, Adil Ruznic and Emir Mustafic, who are charged with crimes in Krajina, is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28. Under the first instance verdict, Selimovic and Ruznic were sentenced to eight years each, while Mustafic was sentenced to nine years in prison.

On Wednesday Enes Curic, Ibrahim Demirovic, Samir Kreso, Habib Copelj and Mehmed Kaminic are due to enter their plea to the charges that they committed crimes in the Mostar area. Vid Palameta, who is charged with crimes against civilians in Dretelj detention camp, is due to enter his plea on Thursday, January 29, while Dragomir Vasic, Danilo Zoljic and Radomir Pantic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica, will enter their plea on Friday.

Zemir Kovacevic is due to appear before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH on Friday. Under the first instance verdict, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for having participated in murders, mistreatment and robbing of Serb civilians in Sijekovac, Bosanski Brod municipality. A hearing at which extension of prohibiting measures against Goran and Milorad Mrdja, who are charged with crimes in the Sanski Most area, is due to be held on that same day.

On Thursday a pre-trial status conference is due to be held in the case against Dragan Marjanovic, Sasa Gavranovic, Vitomir Devic, Zoran Sljuk, Dragomir Kezunovic and Dario Slavuljica, who are charged with the murder of 28 civilians on Mount Borje, Teslic municipality.

On Friday the first Prosecution witness is due to be examined at the trial of Stevo, Milosav, Marijan and Slavko Jovanovic, who are charged with crimes in the Cajnice area in the summer of 1992.

On Monday the trials are due to continue in the case against Savo Tepic, Dragoslav Bojic, Dusko Vujicic, Dusko Maksimovic, Radojko Keverovic, Rade Skoric and Ilija Kurusic, who are charged with crimes in Kotor-Varos, as well as Petar Kovacevic for crimes in Visegrad.

Two trials for Srebrenica genocide are due to continue in the week ahead – the trial of Goran Saric on Monday and Aleksandar Cvetkovic on Tuesday.

On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case against Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, Pavo and Ilija Glavas for crimes in the Odzak area, as well as Ekrem Ibracevic, Faruk Smajlovic and Sejdalija Covic, who are charged with having tortured and abused Serb civilians in Srebrenik.

The trial of Goran Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic for crimes in Bileca is due to continue on Tuesday, while the trials of Mitar Vlasenko, Rade Vlasenko and Drago Koncar for crimes in Prijedor, and Gligor Begovic for crimes in Bijeljina continue one day later.

A session in the case against Milkan Gojkovic, who is charged with crimes in Sarajevo, is scheduled for Wednesday. The trial of Marinko and Zoran Bjelica, as well as Novica Tripkovic, who are charged with crimes in Kalinovik, as well as two trials for Visegrad crimes – in the cases against Vitomir Rackovic and Goran Popovic, are due to continue on that same day.

The trials of Nedzad Hodzic and Dzevad Salcin for crimes on Mount Igman, Nihad Bojadzic for crimes in Jablanica, as well as Nikola Maric for crimes in Prozor are due to continue on Thursday.

On that same day the trial is due to continue in the case against Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Serif Mesanovic, Halid Covic and Nermin Kalember, who are charged with crimes in Hadzici.

The trials of Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Osman Gogic and Kahro Vejzovic, who are charged with crimes in Kladanj, Ibro Macic, who is indicted for crimes in Konjic, and Josip Tolic, who is charged with crimes in Odzak and Bosanski Brod, are due to continue on Friday.

The retrial of Zeljko Jukic, who is charged with crimes in Prozor, is due to continue before the Appellate Chamber in the week ahead.
